4 Things You Need To Know About Future NSA Director Michael Rogers

michael rogers, mashable, nsa, edward snowden, seminole county post, seminole county news,

From Mashable --

Vice Adm. Michael Rogers was confirmed as the new director of the NSA and the U.S. Cyber Command. He will succeed Gen. Keith Alexander, who's retiring in March, amid what many have described as the spy agency's worst crisis — courtesy of Edward Snowden — in its 61 years of existence.

The Department of Defense confirmed his nomination on Thursday, but this was no surprise to anyone who had been paying attention to the process. In October, when Alexander announced his plans to retire, Rogers, was already mentioned as the leading candidate for the job.

But who is Vice Adm. Michael Rogers? Here are four things you need to know about the new head of America's spy agency, as well as the country's cyberwarriors unit known as Cyber Command.

In fact, he's currently the Commander of both the U.S. Fleet Cyber Command and of the Navy's U.S. 10th Fleet — in other words, he's the Gen. Alexander of the Navy.

His experience makes him "a walking resume for this job," as retired Admiral James Stavridis told Foreign Policy in a thorough profile of Rogers.

"He's the best in the business as far as I'm concerned," retired Admiral Gary Roughead told Foreign Policy.....MORE HERE
