From Seminole County Supervisor of Elections Mike Ertel --

Below is the first of our daily updates, detailing the returned absentee ballots by political party for the May 20 Seminole County sales tax election.  I’ll send these out every weeknight until the conclusion of the election.  The time of distribution will vary, depending on whether I’m training pollworkers that night, or doing another election-related task.

Ab Ev Stats Charts Sales Tax 2014

The bulk of the absentee ballots were mailed out last Friday, and the returns have been predictably strong in the first few days.  So far, of the more than 41,000 absentee ballots sent, we have already received back 6,780.  So with just a few days of absentees received, we have a 2.59% turnout in the election already.  Based on our anticipated turnout numbers, this means we already have a little more than ten percent of the anticipated turnout, already having cast a ballot.

Did You Know: despite what your relatives “up north” may tell you, absentee ballots are actually the first ballots counted in an election.  The first results you see on VoteSeminole.org on election night are those of absentee and early voters.

Throughout this process, if you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to give me a call at any of the numbers below.
