All three were riding high after the results were read, along with Congressman John Mica.

Seminole County Republicans turned out in full force last night at the party's regularly scheduled Straw Poll event... ready for fellowship and a good time among candidates, local leaders, and party faithful.

Organized by Seminole County GOP Chairman Al Schwarz and his executive committee of leaders like the Baratheon'esque Justin York (sporting a Kingly beard) and a core group of volunteers, hundreds packed the Lake Mary Westin from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

Area power-brokers were present... including News 13 commentator and lobbyist Michelle Ertel, Gravis Marketing founder/owner Doug Kaplan, and political consultant Gregory Fournier.

Vose Law Firm attorney Phillip Kaprow was seen with representatives from the Republican Jewish Coalition, with fellow attorney and Young Republican leader Eric Jontz looking sharp in a nicely tailored suit.

The crowd was energetic and grateful for the exceptional finger foods and well managed bar area located in the center of the ballroom.

Current Florida Lt. Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera made a red-meat speech to start the event, but the real power came when Congressman John Mica called out the corrupt and bureaucratic BS coming out of Washington D.C.

PREACH!

Representatives Jason Brodeur, Bob Cortes, and Scott Plakon also delivered memorable remarks... while Clerk of Court candidate Sammy Gibson did extremely well for a political newcomer at engaging a crowd of more than 300.

The straw poll results gave a huge victory to upstart Seminole County GOP Committeewoman candidate Susie Dolan, who decisively defeated incumbent Kathryn Townsend, who was caught hiding in a secluded part of the event space avoiding attendees.

Dolan, a ray of sunshine as usual, was rarely allowed a moment alone as voters were eager to snag a few minutes with her to discuss their visions for the Republican Party.

In the State Committeeman race, tech whiz and campaign consigliere Jesse Phillips grabbed an impressive win.

Successful businessman Joel Greenberg walked away from the straw poll with a rallying cry for his nascent bid for Seminole County Tax Collector against LONGTIME incumbent Ray Valdes, when he tied him 143 votes to 143 votes.

"Tonight, we tied a 28 year incumbent at the Seminole County GOP Straw Poll & Hob Knob. The tides are turning in Seminole County as people are realizing that we need a smarter...faster and more efficient Government.

Onward to victory and a fresh start for Seminole County," said Greenberg who showed up with a legion of well-mannered volunteers.

Valdes was shuffling around alone during most of the event, hardly looking the part of a longtime elected official who should have significant structural support.

Beloved congressman John Mica trounced a little known primary opponent... and Representatives Cortes, Brodeur, and Plakon gained high vote counts and received only opposition from write-in candidates.

Recently retired ace cop Sammy Gibson sent a strong message, beating out frequent candidate/former Commissioner Grant Maloy and insurance huckster Mike McLean in the Seminole County Clerk of Courts competition.

"Tonight was the first opportunity to measure the opinions of likely Republican voters looking for the fresh voice of a first-time candidate. We are excited to have emerged as the clear choice of the grassroots volunteers who are dedicated to our party and its principles," said Gibson by way of a statement released on his Facebook page.

Florida's best Supervisor of Elections Michael Ertel oversaw the voting process with much aplomb, supported by his seasoned and friendly staff.

Casselberry City Commissioner Anthony Aramendia was missed by many, while Seminole County Property Appraiser David Johnson turned in a great night by methodically working the room.

U.S. Senator and former presidential candidate Marco Rubio whizzed pass self-funding home-builder Carlos Beruff in the GOP U.S. Senate primary.

Energetic Trump envoy L.A. Key made sure the GOP presidential nominee's campaign did a great job spreading the gospel of Team Trump. ON TO NOVEMBER!
