The candidate for Seminole County Tax Collector is running a congressional level blitzkrieg against beleaguered incumbent Ray Valdes.

By Jacob Engels

A day after News 13 reported that Seminole County Tax Collector Ray Valdes is under investigation by the FDLE for abusing his office for personal financial gain, his opponent has rolled out an impressive statement from a nationally renowned faith leader.

Joel Hunter, lead Pastor and founder of Northland Church located in Longwood has served as a spiritual advisor to several presidents and national figures. He counts the Greenberg family as longtime members of his flock, which is estimated to be in the tens of thousands in Seminole County.

Hunter has known Joel since childhood, and had this to say on a mailer to Seminole County voters about Joel Greenberg.

"Having known Joel since he was a boy, I have always appreciated his hear to help people, and serve them to the best of his ability. I'm very glad that Joel wants to build a better community with his considerable talents." You can view the entire mailer below.

A source close to the Greenberg campaign confirmed to the Seminole County Post that a legendary and well-respected college football coach will be endorsing Greenberg later this week.

Mr. Greenberg snagging support from Pastor Hunter is something that many running for office covet, but few receive.

With leaders like Hunter lining up behind the upstart's campaign against a corrupt incumbent, it is becoming very clear who the right man for the job is for many Seminole County voters.

The election is August 30th, and there is wide speculation that incumbent Ray Valdes might resign or face charges soon.

Stay with us for more coverage on this race as we head into the final days of the campaign.
