School Board Candidate Dishonest About Voting Record

abby sanchez, abby sanchez seminole county, seminole county school board, seminole county schools, dede schaffner, dede schaffner seminole county, seminole county post, seminole county news, news seminole county, jacob engels, seminole county republican party, seminole county gop,

GOP candidate Abby Sanchez is raising eyebrows…

By Jacob Engels

In early May, Seminole County GOP school board candidates Abby Sanchez and Dede Schaffner participated in a forum held by the Suburban Republican Women’s Club.

Sanchez is a local teacher, running as a “Teacher”, “Leader”, “Parent”.

The event, featuring Sanchez and incumbent Seminole County School Board Member Dede Shcaffner, provided some interesting insight to Sanchez’s political background.

Speaking to a group of ardent conservative and Republican activists, Sanchez explained that she was registered as an Independent until 2010.

However, voting details obtained by the Seminole County Post paint a very different picture, one where Sanchez only recently became a registered Republican.

Miss Sanchez’s voting record instead shows that she voted in the Democratic primary in 2008, meaning she omitted the fact that she was registered as a Democrat.

Now, it is understandable why a recently converted Republican like Sanchez would not want to share that information, but what does that teach our students… that lying is okay if it is convenient?

Sanchez’s less than truthful remarks deeply offended a longtime member of the Suburban Republican Women’s Club, who asked to remain anonymous.

"During her opportunity to address the audience, she indicated that she was an independent voter until 2010; which we now know is contrary to her public voting record. In 2008 she was registered as a Democrat and voted in the Democratic primary; meaning that she voted for Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton."

Also interesting to us, was that Sanchez was not actually aware of Florida’s current minimum wage and several other budget related areas addressed during the forum.

With the GOP primary election on August 30th quickly arriving, conservative and Republican voters in Seminole County should be concerned about Abby Sanchez's willful misleading of a Republican audience.

This kind of omission is standard political pandering, coming from a candidate who is trying to stake out the conservative and Tea Party factions of the Republican primary electorate.

Voters should remember that come election day.

Someone who will say anything or carefully splice their past and omit important truths... is probably not the person you want overseeing your local education system.
