3rd term State Representative Jason Brodeur was selected by House Speaker Steve Crisafulli to be the Chairman of the House Health & Human Services Committee.

Earlier this afternoon, House Speaker Steve Crisafulli announced that he had selected Seminole County's own Jason Brodeur as Chairman of the House Health & Human Services Committee for the 2014-2016 legislative term.

“Access to quality health care is one of the most important concerns of Florida families. Representative Brodeur has a strong foundation in health policy. He understands how to tackle issues of health quality and access through market-based solutions, and at the same time, recognizes the importance of a strong safety for our most vulnerable residents,” Speaker Crisafulli said.

The Health & Human Services Committee considers matters related to programs, regulations and systems that purchase or provide health care, health care coverage, social services, and financial assistance for Floridians and their families. The Committee’s oversight responsibilities cover the Agency for Health Care Administration, the Agency for Persons with Disabilities, the Department of Children and Families, the Department of Elder Affairs, the Department of Health, and the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

Brodeur, who founded a successful health care consulting firm in Seminole County is also a board member of Community Based Care for Central Florida. According to Frank Torres of Orlando Politics, Brodeur also chaired the Health Innovations Sub-Committee in 2014.

Brodeur had this to say to the Seminole County Post about House Speaker Crisafulli selecting him to be chair. "I'm truly honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve in a policy area where I spent the majority of my career. Helping meet the healthcare needs of Floridians is a challenge I am looking forward to."
