Seminole GOP Chairman Candidate Has Been Arrested Multiple Times

Gabriel Aviles, the middle-aged event and planning consultant, has two battery arrests and other run ins with law enforcement.

Next Thursday, Seminole County Republicans will meet to elect party leadership to serve on the Seminole County Republican Executive Committee. Current Chairman and Seminole County School Board member Jeff Bauer has announced his intent to seek re-election, doing so in an interview with Orlando Political Observer's Frank Torres.

While there are contested elections for all positions on the board, the race for Chairman is sure to draw the most attention, and for all the wrong reasons. Gabriel Aviles is hoping to replace Jeff Bauer, who is currently making a surprisingly quick recovery from a recent mini-stroke.

Mr.Aviles is an event and planning consultant who also serves as the local leader for Christians United For Israel's state chapter in Florida. Aviles was a longtime employee of United States Post Office, holding varying positions from 1992 to 2012, according to his LinkedIn profile. Recently, he has been involved with fringe elements of the Republican Party that promote religious fanaticism over a common sense small government approach.

He has also been connected to Cindy Youell,  who registered an embarrasing third place finish for Seminole GOP Committeewoman in August.

However, it's not those fringe connections that have Seminole County Republicans worried, it's Mr. Aviles' arrest record. A simple search of Gabriel Aviles on MugShots.com reveals that he has been arrested in Polk County several times and in Seminole County on one occasion. The arrests date back to 2000, with the most recent happening in 2009 for failure to appear in Polk County.

In 2007, he was arrested twice on battery charges by the Polk County Sheriffs Office, which likely resulted in several court hearings and could be the reason he was arrested for "failure to appear" two years later in 2009. His only local arrest occurred in late May of 2000 and stemmed from Aviles not having a proper tag for his vehicle, something that could happen to most of us if we were a few days late replacing our tags each year.

The arresting body was the Lake Mary Police Department.

These records were verified by background checking tool TruthFinder.com, which pulls from federal/state/local databases for arrests records and other information. We expect that Aviles has an explanation for the arrests, possibly a compelling story of how he has changed his life for the better, Republicans do love a good success story.

Before we leave you, I completely understand that some of our readers will want more information on this matter, particularly the several hundred active voting members of the Seminole County Republican Party Executive Committee. Those members can simply search his name and select the state of Florida on MugShots.com, and be sure to use the photos throughout this article as reference to make sure you find the right person.

From there, you will be able to obtain further information that can help you make a final determination about Gabriel Aviles' fitness for office.

We were unsuccessful in attempting to reach Mr. Aviles and if he responds we will be sure to add his comments to this article.
